"My interest in my family histories began when Mom showed me an old, yellowed paper which she'd received from her grandfather, listing the vital statistics of his core family written in Old German script.  It was difficult to read, but gave the birthdates of all his children and where they'd been born as well as his own and his wife's.  Suddenly, those mythical people whom I'd never met came alive to me and I was hooked.

My maternal line includes the family names Schott, Hirth & Rischar; my paternal line includes the names Binard, Dhuyvetter & Meyer (Mejer, Meier).
